The Live Dictation feature in VEHRBAL allows healthcare providers to speak naturally while the system transcribes their speech in real time. This feature is ideal for clinicians who prefer hands-free documentation and immediate feedback as they dictate clinical encounters.
Overview
Live Dictation is designed for speed and simplicity. With just a click, users can activate the microphone and begin speaking. As speech is captured, it is transcribed directly into the rich-text editor below, allowing the user to review and edit as they go.
The Live Dictation modal includes:
- A prompt that reads "Speak now." to indicate the system is actively listening.
- A live transcript area showing the spoken text as it is recognized.
- Action buttons for Do It (to confirm and send the transcript to the editor) or Cancel (to discard the input).
Using Live Dictation
1. Navigate to the Note section from the left-hand menu. 2. Click the Dictate Live button on the home screen or within the editor. 3. A modal will appear with a message prompting you to begin speaking. 4. Dictate your clinical note or encounter. You will see your speech transcribed live. 5. When finished, click Do It to insert the transcribed content into the editor. 6. You can now edit, format, or process the text using available tools.

- Include details like intensity, duration, and symptoms—VEHRBAL will parse this into SOAP sections.

As shown in the screenshot, the live transcript provides immediate visual confirmation of what's being captured, including complex sentence structures, symptoms, and diagnostic phrasing. This input can be finalized into a clinical note instantly.
