Live Recording
Live Recording
The Live Recording feature in VEHRBAL enables providers to record audio during patient encounters and securely submit those recordings for AI-powered transcription after the session is complete. This workflow is ideal when real-time dictation isn’t practical—such as during fast-paced clinical visits, offline environments, or multi-speaker interactions.
Overview
With a single click, VEHRBAL begins recording your audio. You can pause, resume, or playback your session before finalizing. Once you are satisfied with the recording, click Send to submit the audio file for automatic transcription and SOAP note generation.
The Live Recording interface includes:
- A clear call-to-action message: "Click Record to begin!"
- Real-time recording timer display
- Interactive audio controls: Record, Pause, Play, Send, and Clear Recording
- Visual indicators showing recording progress and duration

How to Use Live Recording
1. Go to the Dictate section in the main menu. 2. Click the Record Live button. 3. When prompted, begin speaking to record your encounter or dictation. 4. Use the following controls as needed:
* Pause – temporarily stops the recording without ending the session * Play – plays back your audio for review * Clear Recording – discards the current session * Send – submits your audio file for transcription and SOAP formatting
5. Once submitted, the system will begin processing in the background. You can continue working while VEHRBAL prepares your note.
Key Features
- Offline-Friendly: Record audio without requiring a live internet connection; upload later when online.
- Secure Recording: All audio is encrypted during transfer and storage, compliant with HIPAA and HITECH regulations.
- Flexible Controls: Pause and review your dictation before submission to ensure completeness.
- Post-Processing AI: Upon submission, VEHRBAL’s AI engine will:
* Transcribe your dictation using a medically-tuned speech recognition model * Extract relevant clinical content * Automatically structure the note into Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan sections
Use Cases
Live Recording is particularly useful for:
- Providers who prefer reviewing and refining notes post-visit
- Settings where patient interaction makes live dictation disruptive
- Busy schedules that require flexible documentation workflows
- Group practices or environments with limited connectivity
Tips for Best Results
- Use a high-quality microphone or headset to minimize background noise
- Speak clearly and in complete thoughts
- Avoid overlapping speakers when capturing multi-voice recordings
- Use specific clinical terms; the AI is trained on medical vocabulary
Troubleshooting
- If the record button is unresponsive, ensure your browser has microphone permissions enabled
- If audio does not play back, verify your system audio output and refresh the page
- For lengthy recordings, allow a few minutes for upload and processing after clicking "Send"
Summary
VEHRBAL’s Live Recording feature offers a simple and secure way to capture clinical documentation without interrupting the patient interaction. It’s designed to give clinicians the flexibility to record now, transcribe later—and still produce accurate, AI-generated SOAP notes with minimal effort.
